After almost 17 levels of play, the WPT Amsterdam Season 2017-2018 €3,300 Main Event has seen a field of 207 entries whittled down all the way to the last 24 hopefuls and the money bubble burst to secure all remaining hopefuls a payday of at least €5,410 ($6,654) at the Holland Casino in Amsterdam.
Among the two players to bust in the money thus far was 2017 WPT Amsterdam third-place finisher Jan Jansma, while Justin Bonomo stormed to the top of the leaderboard after bagging up 790,500. Paul Berende follows in second place with 662,500 and fellow Dutchman Duco ten Haven 493,500, while WPT Champions Club member Ema Zajmovic (pictured above) is also among the big stacks with 370,500.
One year ago, Zajmovic made history after becoming the second woman to win a WPT title and the first to win an open WPT title after emerging victorious on home soil at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, and the French-Canadian consistently built a stack throughout Day 2 to dominate her tables. Two other women aim for the same feat in Amsterdam, as Lithuania’s Beatrice Alisauskaite (240,000) and Japan’s Yuri Ishida (225,000) are also in contention.
Other notables among the last 24 hopefuls in Amsterdam include Gary Miller (284,000), Igor Yaroshevskyy (306,000), JC Alvarado (278,500), 2017 Amsterdam runner-up Louis Salter (274,000), Rens Feenstra (257,000), Hossein Ensan (190,000), Olvedo Heinze (189,500), Jonathan Abdellatif (140,000) and Alberto Stegeman (116,000).
The action is set to resume at 2 p.m. local time with 8:25 remaining in level 17 at blinds of 2,500/5,000 and a running ante of 500. The Action Clock by Protection Poker is in place and Day 3 will play down to the final six for tomorrow’s final table.
