Tyler Smith Is Relentless

May 19, 2012

With around 40,000 in the pot and the board reading [9c4s3h6c6h], Tyler Smith moves all-in, having Cliff Josephy’s remaining 58,000 or so covered. Josephy folds, giving Smith the pot.

Just a few minutes later, Season X Seminole Hard Rock Open Champ Tommy Vedes raises to 700 from under the gun, Smith calls from middle position, and Season X WPT Slovenia  Champ Miha Travnik reriases to around 3,000. Vedes calls, then it is Smith who reraises to to 10,500. Travnik folds and Vedes calls.

The flop comes [K10h3s] and Vedes checks. Smith bets 13,600, then Vedes check raises to 31,600 total. Smith doesn’t take long at all before calling.

The turn is the [Jh] and both players check. The river is the [2h] and Vedes checks again. Smith reaches for chips and starts to count out a bet. He sets his chips down and opts instead to just move all-in, having Vedes’ remaining 60,000 or so covered.

Vedes thinks well into the break and several of the other players at the table stick around to see how the hand plays out. Vedes eventually folds.

Josephy is one of the players who lingered at the table and jokingly tells Vedes, "Let’s take him outside and kick his ass, Tommy."

Smith decides to rub a little more salt in the wound by showing Vedes his [Ac9c] for just ace-high.

"That was good actually," Vedes tells Smith. "I almost called you with ace-high."

Tyler Smith – 220,000
Tommy Vedes – 60,000
