Three starting days have already wrapped up at the 2025 WPT Prime Gold Coast Championship here at The Star Gold Coast and a total of 719 entries have emerged thus far in the crown jewel of the series, which comes with an AU$2,000 price tag. The three flights have seen 95 players advance to Day 2 and poker enthusiasts from near and far will aim to achieve the same feat as of 1.30 p.m. local time when the final flight is set to kick off.
Leading the way is local poker pro Michael Egan with 793,000 in chips followed by Day 1a chip leader and current Player of the Festival points leader Craig Blight (770,000), as well as Dutchman and local resident Thijs Hilberts (751,000). The trio topped their respective starting days and it remains to be seen if any other contender will be able to surpass them in the last-chance heat today.
All participants receive 40,000 in chips, good enough for 200 big blinds in the opening level, and they will aim to make it all the way until the end of level 16. That’s the maximum number of levels to be played today, each of which lasts 40 minutes each. However, if the top 12.5% of the field is reached prior to that, the action is also set to conclude as well.
The late registration and re-entry period is open for the first nine levels and following 45-minute dinner break, after which the overall tally will be set in stone here in sunny Australia. Stay tuned right here on WPT.com for the exclusive live updates from Down Under as we crown another WPT Prime Champion, who will also receive a seat for the season-ending WPT World Championships in Las Vegas as well.
