Day 4 of the €3,300 WPT Amsterdam Main Event began with 16 players from a starting field of 341 entrants. After five levels, six players will go to bed dreaming of a first-ever WPT title. That was made possible after the final WPT Champions Club member, Giacomo Fundaro, fell in 12th place after being eliminated by the Finnish player Aki Pyysing.
Leading the way is Steve Warburton with 2,810,000 chips. The UK resident has been amongst the chip leaders for several days, and this is the first time that he has cashed in a WPT event. He will be joined by the WPT Amsterdam High Roller champion Jason Wheeler. The online star was responsible for the elimination of Sorel Mizzi, in 10th place, after Fredrik Andersson dished out the damage to Mizzi in a brutal beat that you can read about right here.
It was a great day of action. Tomorrow promises to be even better.
Here is the complete final table lineup:
Seat 1: Jason Wheeler (1,095,000)
Seat 2: Fredrik Andersson (2,195,000)
Seat 3: Kees van Brugge (1,270,000)
Seat 4: Joep van den Bijgaart (1,650,000)
Seat 5: Farid Yachou (1,195,000)
Seat 6: Steve Warburton (2,810,000)
The final table action gets underway on Sunday at 2pm CET and there will also be a live stream available at 2:30pm on a 30-min delay.
Tune in tomorrow for all the live updates as the quest to crown the newest WPT champion concludes.
