Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Obst took over the chip lead early on Day 3 and seemingly held the top spot ever since then, closing out the victory in dominating fashion. The AUD $8,000 buy-in attracted a field of 396 entries and generated a prize pool of AUD $2,930,400 (~US $1,995,016) with the lion’s share being distributed today.

On the final day, Aspers Casino live satellite qualifier Dillan Patel bowed out in the very first hand in a flip against Endersby. Responsible for the next two eliminations was Daniel Murphy, who sent Matthew Wakeman and Oleg Ivanchenko to the payout desk.

Yet, the lead of Obst was never threatened and he peaked at nearly 200 big blinds. In three-handed play, the action was fast-paced and the tower of chips for Obst kept growing. The biggest trouble he had all day long was seemingly the unbagging of chips at the start and moving them to a different spot for heads-up play against Endersby.

The duel for the title only lasted five hands and Obst had the best of it with ace-king versus king-jack to seal the victory in a mere four and a half hours.
