As you can see by the tweet at the bottom of this post, Faraz Jaka had an unusual day, but it ended with him as the Day 1 chipleader of the WPT Rolling Thunder Championship.

With less than 15 minutes remaining in the day, the chip lead belonged to Quyen Hoang with about 300,000. But then Yunkyu Song got it all in on the turn against Jaka.

This was a clash between two WPT Players of the Year, as Song is the reigning POY, while Jaka won that title back in 2010.

The board showed Spade KDiamond 8Heart 7Diamond 2, and Song was all in for roughly 90,000 with Heart KHeart 8 for two pair. Jaka turned over Spade 6Spade 5 for an open-ended straight draw, and the Club 9 on the river knocked out Song and catapulted Jaka back into the chip lead.
