Amin Riyazati Tops Day 1b of the 2024 WPT Australia Championship Event

The second and final starting day of the 2024 WPT Australia Championship Event has concluded. Thanks to an additional 207 entries, the attendance in the AUD $8,000 marquee event was boosted to 396 entries to generate a prize pool of AUD $2,930,400 (~US $1,995,016).

Only 84 players bagged up chips after ten levels of 60 minutes each and Amin Riyazati completed a late surge to pull ahead of the competition with a stack of 353,000. His nearest follower from today’s flight is David Luong with 291,000 while Stephen Song (276,000) and Michael Wang (236,500) also advanced with top ten stacks as well.

Defending champion Richard Lee was not spotted in the field, however, last year’s runner-up Martin Kozlov finished a roller-coaster day with 203,000 in chips just outside of the top ten. Likewise, WPT Global ambassador Ethan Yau made it through with an above-average stack of 177,000 and will be among the bigger stacks for Day 2.

Only the top 50 finishers will earn a cash prize and 149 players advanced across both Day 1. The full payouts can be found below:

Day 2 begins tomorrow (Sunday) at 11:30 am with blinds of 1,500-2,500 and a big blind ante of 2,500.
